‘Visfot’ review: A worthwhile thriller about cruel coincidences

In Visfot, accidents are merely ready to occur. Likelihood and merciless coincidence mix to breathless impact in Kookie Gulati’s official Hindi remake of the Venezuelan hit Rock, Paper, Scissors (2012).

Set in Mumbai, the film is out on JioCinema. The transferring finger has began behaving like a seismometer throughout a tsunami even earlier than name taxi driver Shoeb’s path crosses with airline pilot Akash.

Dragged into the travails of his acquaintance Manya (Nachiket Purnapatre) quickly after, Shoeb (Fardeen Khan) and his girlfriend Fortunate (Krystle D’Souza) discover themselves saddled with Akash’s son Paddy (Prithviraj Sarnaik).

The prosperous Akash (Riteish Deshmukh) and his estranged spouse Tara (Priya Bapat) cease their bickering lengthy sufficient to attempt to retrieve their baby. Sadly for all involved, gangland queen Acid Tai (Seema Biwas) and a pair of corrupt cops are eager on prolonging the state of affairs.

The explosion instructed by the movie’s title is definitely a sequence of minor blasts. Each Shoeb and Akash are seconds away from imploding, Akash greater than Shoeb, since he’s unused to the instability that awaits him.

Visfot doesn’t broaden on the implications of two financial courses and worlds colliding head-on. The rot that characterises the Caracas setting in Rock, Paper, Scissors is merely hinted at in Visfot. Maybe the movie’s director and writers Abbas Dalal and Hussein Dalal are counting on Mumbai’s storied fame for anytime-anywhere mayhem.

Stripped of layering, the 130-minute Visfot is an environment friendly and worthwhile thriller, nail-biting when it must be and with sufficient emotion to make the characters come alive. There are moments when each tracks threaten to tip over into hysteria. However the necessity to hold issues transferring over a plot that’s set over a single day steadies the narrative.

A well-picked solid delivers the products, turning out the form of plausible performances wanted to hard-sell among the extra implausible plot turns. Riteish Deshmukh, Priya Bapat and Krystle D’Souza are every strong – the ladies particularly benefitting from well-etched characters. The shock bundle is Fardeen Khan, who amply overcomes his current disastrous flip in Heermandi.

Khan ably portrays Shoeb as a good bloke, a dutiful son to his ailing mom (Sheeba Chadha) and a loving boyfriend to Fortunate. This part of the film is altogether extra managed and compelling than the dialled-up catfights between Akash and Tara.
