Defamation case: The Supreme Court docket on Monday (September 30) stayed the proceedings within the trial courtroom towards Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and Aam Aadmi Social gathering (AAP) nationwide convenor Arvind Kejriwal within the defamation case towards them over remarks on the alleged deletion of the names of 30 lakh voters belonging to some communities from the electoral rolls.

A bench of Justices Hrishikesh Roy and SVN Bhatti issued discover to the Delhi authorities and BJP chief Rajiv Babbar on the plea of Atishi and Kejriwal and sought a response from them. The courtroom will hear the case once more after 4 weeks.

Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, showing for Atishi and Kejriwal, submitted that the defamation case has been filed by Babbar, because the authorised consultant of BJP Delhi.

“BJP, neither central nor Delhi, has not filed any criticism. Babbar will not be the individual I’ve allegedly defamed,” he submitted. Senior advocate Sonia Mathur, showing for Babbar, said that the BJP chief has filed the case on behalf of the occasion.
